Becoming an Associate Member (ARMS)

The Selection Committee of the Society elects new Associate Members once a year at the selection of work for the Annual Open Exhibition.

The Selection Committee looks only at the work submitted, it will not consider transparencies, photographs, web sites or CVs. Therefore, the only method of becoming an Associate Member is to submit work to the Society for the Annual Open Exhibition.

Artists wishing to be considered for Associate Membership must submit the maximum of five works. An artist who had five works accepted in the previous year should send five new works the following year and write CANDIDATE at the top of the entry form, if wishing to be considered.

Subject to the acceptance of all five works, the artist could be elected to Associate Membership, however the process is by no means automatic. This means that an artist will need to have five out of five works selected in two consecutive years.
The five works do not have to be of the same size, medium, subject or frame - they should be best work, however.

Once you become an Associate member a fee of £130.00 is payable on the January following your election.
You may use the initials ARMS, submit a Max of 6 miniature works (no entry fee required) and 4 Large pieces, optional at (£5.00 each) for the next three years, please see Full member.

Becoming a Full Member (RMS)

The Selection Committee of the Society elects Full Members once a year at the selection of work for the Annual Open Exhibition. Provided you have been an Associate member for a full three years.

Artists wishing to be considered for Full Membership must submit the maximum of six works and have had six works accepted the prevoius year. An Associate member who had six works accepted in the previous year should send six new works and write CANDIDATE at the top of the entry form, if wishing to be considered.

However the process is by no means automatic. This means that an artist will need to have six out of six works selected in two consecutive years.
