Wendy Hyams ARMS

Wendy gained a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design/ Illustration at Brighton in 1981. She worked as a Freelance Illustrator for several years working on various publishing and packaging commissions for clients such as Mitchell Beazley,  Marks and Spencer , Boots and Waitrose. Specialising in fine detailed watercolour, her subjects, for the most part, tended to be still life, plant or food. Her work continued until the birth of her second child who was born with a severe form of Brittle Bones (Osteogenesis Imperfecta).  Her role of mother and carer came to the fore, and it wasn’t until 2005 that Wendy decided to try miniature portraiture – something that her tutor at Brighton had suggested all those years ago.

In 2011, she submitted her first miniatures to the RMS, and the following year won two awards: The Bill Munday Portrait Award, and the RMS Group Award.  Wendy was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Miniature Society  in 2013.

Commissions are undertaken for any aspect of her work which also includes life size portrait head sculptures, larger painting and photography, and any enquiries would be most welcome.
