Gina Morton RMS HS SLm
Born in Darlington. Whilst working at NatWest Bank (1968 – 1996) painted in spare time via correspondence courses, painting holidays & with members of local art society (of which she was Secretary from 1977 to 2007). After taking Voluntary Redundancy tried her hand at miniature painting. To her amazement, in 2003 she started winning awards at the RMS, including the Gold Memorial Bowl in 2005 & the Prince of Wales Award in 2013. Elected RMS in 2006.
Her miniatures are painted in stippled watercolour on Polymin. She also continues to paint outdoors (& from her own photographic reference) in traditional watercolour. Farm/domestic animals often feature in her work, but she tackles a wide range of subjects, many of which are inspired by visits to Beamish Open Air Museum in Co Durham, where she can see costumed figures, working animals, & historic vehicles.
